About our speaker
Claus Soong is an analyst in MERICS’ Foreign Relations team specializing in China's global strategy with a particular focus on China's role in the Asia-Pacific and the Global South, China-US relations and Hong Kong. Prior to joining MERICS, he gained experience working with organizations such as the International Crisis Group and the Center for China and Globalization in Hong Kong and Beijing, and Greenmantle in New York.
Claus holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Delaware, a Master of Management Science in Global Affairs from Tsinghua University in Beijing as a Schwarzman Scholar, and Master and Bachelor of Laws degrees from National Chengchi University in Taipei.

About our speaker
Alexander Brown’s research focuses on industrial policy and foreign economic policy. Before joining MERICS, he was an Associate Consultant and Project Consultant at APCO Worldwide in Frankfurt am Main and Beijing. Alexander holds a Master’s degree in international political economy from Peking University, and a Bachelor in politics and international relations from the University of Melbourne.
