Angelo M'BA graduated with honours from the University of Oxford, where he read for an MPhil in Modern Chinese Studies at St Antony's College. He previously studied English studies with a minor in Law and International Relations at Rennes Catholic University (ICR), France. His long-held interest in cooperation mechanisms led him to intern at the Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum, to help write a book on international security, and to join Chatham House’s youth platform. At Oxford, he directed the event section of the St Antony’s International Review, a peer-reviewed journal, and edits for the Oxford Political Review. Through European Guanxi, he endeavours to contribute to a broader and more nuanced understanding of China and Europe-China relations.

René Neumann

René is currently pursuing a Master of Law in China Studies within the Politics and International Relations policy stream at the Yenching Academy of Peking University. He graduated from King’s College London with a BA in International Relations in 2023, having spent his second year on an Erasmus+ exchange at Sciences Po Paris. During his undergraduate studies, he interned at the Embassy of Mexico in Italy, having previously completed a year-long AFS program in Mexico at age 16, and undertook a research fellowship investigating how populist right-wing female leaders frame female leadership. He also represented Italy at the ASEF 5th Young Leaders Summit in 2023 and was a Political Studies Summer Fellow at Hudson Institute in 2024. He is fluent in English, Italian, Spanish, and French, and speaks intermediate Chinese.

Arturo Simone

Arturo is a communications and security policy specialist, originally from Italy. With a background in European and American affairs, his research projects focus on hybrid warfare and interregional cooperation within the EU and Southeast Asia, working for GLOBSEC and TNGO. Previously serving as Podcast Director for European Guanxi he currently works with the MIRCURY Institute for Conflict Prevention, and contributes to the JASON institution for Peace and Security as an Editor. Arturo holds a Double MSc in European Governance from Utrecht University (The Netherlands) and Masaryk University (Czech Republic), with a focus on foreign affairs in the Eastern flank.

Miruna Gheorghe is a grantmaking and communication specialist. Over the past four years, Miruna has successfully secured funding for impactful projects, nurtured lasting relationships with diverse stakeholders, and coordinated initiatives that bridge cultural and professional gaps withing international think tanks and NGOs. With a academic background in Security and Defense and International Relations, Miruna brings a thoughtful, human-centered approach to collaboration and problem-solving. Known for her commitment to creating meaningful impact, Miruna thrives on creating partnerships that empower communities and advance shared goals.

Douglas Anderson

Douglas Brenton Anderson is Editor-in-Chief at European Guanxi and a research intern at Asia Society in Washington DC. He holds an MA in Public Policy Administration from Tsinghua University and an MSc in Innovation, Human Development, and Sustainability from the University of Geneva. He has extensive experience working in governments at the local, regional, and national level, as well as in the humanitarian sector and the think tank sphere. In his spare time, he enjoys travel, having been to 41 cities across China – and is also is a classical pianist.

Iris Antonie

I’m Iris-Anamaria Antonie, a passionate young professional committed to global understanding. I recently graduated cum laude from the University of Groningen, earning a Master’s degree in East Asian Studies. This academic experience included a semester at Fudan University in Shanghai, where I studied in the Department of Economics for six months. During my time there, I conducted research on Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Mekong region. Prior to my Master’s, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Trade Management for Asia at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. Recently, I became a Fellow at the Pacific Forum, a program that provides promising scholars the opportunity to engage with Indo-Pacific policy issues. Currently, my professional journey has brought me to Brussels, where I work as a Public Affairs Associate, focusing on sustainability and circular economy topics. I am fluent in Romanian, German, and English, and I have intermediate proficiency in Chinese.

Leon Verbakel

Leon is currently enrolled in a pre-masters degree program in International and European Law at the University of Amsterdam. Previously he graduated with distinction from Leiden University with a BA in Chinese Studies, and was awarded a scholarship to study a one-year program at Nanjing University. He speaks and reads Mandarin at an advanced level and holds experience as a research assistant at the Leiden Asia Centre. Passionate about fostering a deeper understanding between Europe and China, Leon has spoken about his experiences at public events.

Hannah holds a Sino-German bachelor’s in International Economics and a dual Master “Europe and Asia in Global Affairs” from Sciences Po Paris and Fudan University in Shanghai. She gained practical experience through internships at the European Commission, the Permanent Representation of Germany to the European Union (EU), the German Foreign Ministry in Taiwan, GIZ, and the German Chamber of Commerce.

Kristi Kozma

Kristi Kozma, 27, is a dedicated professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Environment from the University of Geneva and a Master’s in Public Management and Policy from the University of Lausanne. With two years of experience at the World Meteorological Organization, he contributed to the coordination and monitoring of global climate initiatives as a Project Assistant before advancing to an Event Coordinator role, where he successfully organized high-level international conferences. Now based in Alexandria, Egypt, Kristi serves as a Public Policies Assistant at the Anna Lindh Foundation, where he supports knowledge production, policy dialogues, and strategic outreach to promote intercultural collaboration.

Shristi More

Shristi More is a master’s graduate from the University of Kent in international relations and foreign policy. She is an enthusiast on subject matter of climate change and sustainability and holds the credential as a Climate Ambassador from a programme by Climate interactive and MIT Sloan. She is a multilingual with knowledge of over 5 languages with current succession in Japanese. For her master’s thesis she focus on Dilapidated role of Conference of parties since its inception and how it had only made the current situation worse and with European Guanxi as a platform she wants to educate people more on the subject of climate change and its politics.

Gerwin He

Gerwin is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in European Affairs, specializing in the 'Europe in the World' policy stream at Sciences Po Paris. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Management from OTH Regensburg, where he gained expertise in both international politics and business administration. Gerwin’s professional experience includes internships at the Asia Programme of the European Council on Foreign Relations in Berlin, where he worked on EU-Indo-Pacific relations. He further honed his research skills during a semester at Peking University, studying topics like China’s economic reforms and international security. Being an Austrian of Chinese descent, he is passionate about bridging European and East Asian relations.

Alec Kosedowski

Alec holds a Master’s degree in Business Informatics from Trier University and has studied Chinese language and history at Fuzhou University. He gained professional experience in China as an intern at the German Chamber of Commerce in Beijing, further enhancing his understanding of the country’s cultural and business landscape. Currently based in Germany, Alec works as a Data Engineer.

Shiqing Xiao

I am from Nantong, Jiangsu Province. I went to New Zealand in 2017. I did my undergraduate at the University of Auckland. I graduated with BA majoring in French and Politics & International Relations in 2023. Apart from doing studies in NZ, I did an undergraduate research program about Belt and Road at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in Summer 2022 and spent four months studying French in France from December 2022 to March 2023. I went to Netherlands to do my Master of International Relations degree at Leiden University in August 2023. I graduated this June. Now I am doing an intern for China Policy and another intern for ChinaGeopolitics.

Dounia Al Jijakli

Dounia Al Jijakli is a French student currently completing a Master's degree at Peking University, where she specializes in Politics and International Relations. Before coming to Beijing, Dounia completed her MPhil in Politics and International Studies at the University of Cambridge, Trinity College, where she wrote her thesis on the French-Syrian Diaspora in France. During her time at Cambridge, Dounia became a panelist for the Center of Human Rights and Governance Podcast, where she recorded and hosted an episode on the relationship between activism and human rights in the context of the Syrian revolution with former Syrian political prisoner Omar al Shogre. Already a polyglot, Dounia sees her experience in China as an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Sino-European relations from a Chinese perspective while continuing to improve her mandarin skills, and immerse herself in a cross-cultural context valuable to her envisaged career path. Upon graduation, Dounia aspires to join the European civil service and become a European diplomat.

Sardor Allayarov

Sardor Allayarov is Deputy Editor-in-Chief at European Guanxi and a Research Assistant at Urgench State University (Uzbekistan). He graduated with summa cum laude from the University of Szeged, majoring in MA International Relations. Sardor has previously worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade (Hungary), the Centre for Analysis, Monitoring and Reporting (Slovakia), and the Institute of International Relations (Czech Republic). As a Belt and Road Initiative Scholar, he joined Lanzhou Jiaotong University in the People’s Republic of China as a Visiting Research Fellow. He is an expert in international relations with a research focus on theories of international relations, international order, China, Eurasia, and foreign policy.

Kalos Lao

Kalos is a Governance and Law Analyst at China Policy, a policy analysis and strategic advisory firm based in Hong Kong. He is responsible for tracking PRC policy trends by reviewing mainland Chinese sources on a daily basis. Previously, he served as an editor for European Guanxi, contributing to its publication efforts. Kalos is currently pursuing an MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Oxford. He was previously funded by the University of Warwick to conduct research on the evolving structure and policy lines of the Chinese state. His interests include PRC central-local governance, institutional reforms, legal advancements and global initiatives.
