European Guanxi is thrilled to present a workshop with Anne Wen, 9th Cohort Yenching Scholar and Chair of the 2024 Yenching Global Symposium, and René Neumann, 10th Cohort Yenching Scholar and incumbent Secretary-General of European Guanxi, offering essential guidance for applying to the competitive Yenching Academy of Peking University.

One of our key missions is to foster understanding of China and encourage engagement, which is why we provide our audience with opportunities to build meaningful connections.

In this one-hour workshop, we will thoroughly explore the application process for the Yenching scholarship and offer useful advice, as well as hearing about Anne's and René's experience as current Yenching scholars! The event offers valuable insights for anyone looking to kickstart a successful career in China-related fields.

Become a Global Leader through the
Yenching Academy of Peking University
The Yenching Academy of Peking University offers a prestigious two-year, fully funded fellowship program focused on interdisciplinary studies about China, covering fields within the humanities and social sciences.

Each year, approximately 120 students from China and around the world join the program, with international students making up about 80% of the cohort. Scholars benefit from a generous fellowship package that includes tuition, accommodation, a monthly stipend, one round-trip airfare, and field study costs—providing a unique opportunity to live, study, and connect in a vibrant academic community.

The Yenching Academy is open to all fellows with strong interest in China holding a bachelor’s degree. A record of extracurricular achievement and English proficiency are required. For more details on eligibility and the application process, refer to the Yenching Academy website.​
About our speakers
Anne Wen is currently pursuing a Master of Law in China Studies within the Economics and Management policy stream at the Yenching Academy of Peking University. She co-chaired the last edition of the annual Yenching Global Symposium. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at Princeton University, where she majored in East Asian Studies, focusing on contemporary China.
René Neumann, current Secretary-General of European Guanxi, is currently pursuing a Master of Law in China Studies within the Politics and International Relations policy stream at the Yenching Academy of Peking University. He graduated from King’s College London with a BA in International Relations in 2023, having spent his second year on an Erasmus+ exchange at Sciences Po Paris.
